Calling all Territory designers, artisans and producers…
The first Territory Made designer markets to be held monthly will kick off on Sunday April 12th at the Darwin Botanic Gardens and organisers are calling out for local NT creatives of all kinds to come out of the closet and submit for a spot on the field to display their wares to a wider audience.
Formerly known as the Etsy Markets, new owner and NT local Sarah Price wanted a place where NT artisans and creatives could showcase their wares for all to see. “I’ve re-branded and relaunched these monthly markets so they better reflect the Territory spirit and design perspective. Having worked in the arts much of my professional life I know that us Territorian’s have an eclectic design ethic, and my intention is to curate a market that best showcases this aspect of our innovative artisans and creative communities,” says Sarah Price.
The markets will be curated based on the principals of quality, creativity, diversity and innovation. Products must be designed and created in the Territory by Territorians. Currently the organisers are looking for products on the ‘edgier’ side to complete an already comprehensive selection of approximately 50 stalls including fashion, home-wares, gift-wares, garden-ware and loads of delicious foods and drinks including a bubble tea store and organic juice stall. On the food side there’ll be gourmet [a’la Territory style versions of] hot dogs, pies, pastries along with gluten free and raw food cakes and sweets options. All food is handmade locally using local and organic ingredients where possible.
“I want to get creators to come out of their spare rooms, their garages and home studios. We have a place for them now, one that can deliver their uniquely local wares to a wider audience”.
Being a digital marketing professional Sarah Price is currently working on adding an e-commerce back-end to the Territory Made market so that visitors and locals alike can stay in touch with the latest collections and ranges to be released and available on the ground and online. “With so many tourists it only makes sense that we provide an ongoing platform accessible worldwide”, says Sarah.
There are also plans is to take Territory Made designer markets to all key NT regions ensuring a solid platform for creative industries Territory-wide.
Once the Dry season comes along the day will extend into the night with a bar and live entertainment. But starting Sunday 12th April you can bring the whole family down for some quality retail therapy while doing your thing to contribute to the local economy; you can sit back in the chill-out corner chewing on a gourmet burger reading a magazine from the on-site library while the young-uns go wild in the Kids Zone.
Territory Made designer markets will be held every second Sunday of the month starting 12th April at 10am>>4pm. For those wishing to submit an application for a stall please contact email@example.com or call Sarah on 0423 132 594.
