International Women's Day is an annual global event that recognises the achievements of women from all walks of life and the great improvements that have been made in the lives of women over time. An international web of rich and diverse activities are held throughout the world in celebration of this event.

For the sixth consecutive year City of Darwin in partnership with United Nations Association of Australia NT are holding the International Women's Day Walk and Community Morning Tea.

This event continues to grow each year with over 300 participants in 2013 proudly led by a contingent of 70 Police in uniform, the Darwin City Brass Band, Police women on horseback and noted dignitaries.

Please come and join us for the 2014 Walk this Saturday (March 8) followed by a reception in the Main Hall at Parliament House. There will be a number of inspiring speakers, information stalls, morning tea and entertainment. 9:00am for a 9:30am start. Meet at the steps of Parliament House and walk a short route through the Darwin CBD.

A morning tea and festivities will follow the walk from 10:30am to 12:30pm Main Hall, Parliament House.

There’ll be live music, refreshments, inspirational speakers, entertainers and information stalls will be on offer.
