Darwin welcomes the return of one of the world’s largest cruise liners, the Queen Mary 2, who will spend the day alongside Fort Hill Wharf on Thursday 27 February.

It’s the ship’s second visit to Darwin.  With around 2500 passengers and 1200 crew, the 345 metre cruise liner, which is as high as a 23 story building and weighing in at a whopping 75,000 tonnes, will pose a remarkable sight on Darwin Harbour.  Expected to enter the outer harbour at around 7:15 am and come to berth at Fort Hill Wharf at 9:00 am on Thursday.

Vantage points for viewing at East Point and the Esplanade between 7:15 am and 8:30 am for the arrival into Darwin Harbour and, to get up close to the cruise liner, public viewing from Stokes Hill Wharf will be available from 9:00 am throughout the day.  There will be no access to Fort Hill Wharf to members of the public and traffic restrictions will apply in that area.

The Queen Mary 2 is currently circumnavigating Australia, coming from Brisbane and will be departing for Benoa, Indonesia at 5:00 pm Thursday afternoon.
