This week marks 50 years since the first episode of Star Trek premiered in the US.
In addition to screening Star Trek movies on SBS 2 this week, SBS will air the documentary Building Star Trek next Sunday night. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, a star-studded line up of astronauts, engineers, writers, innovators and actors come together for the epic restoration of the original Enterprise and an unprecedented search for every remaining original part of the 1966 TV show. Building Star Trek follows the crew as they try and exhibit as authentic artefacts, props and costumes as possible from the Original Star Trek series.
