Adele's "Hello" is already the second-fastest music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube, and yet it just became a bit more epic.
The Xavier Dolan-directed video got even more cinematic, thanks to some pre-song narration from Sir David Attenborough. While appearing on BBC Radio 1 to discuss his new docuseries The Hunt with host Greg James, Attenborough told viewers what exactly is going on in the first 90 seconds of the music video.
"Adele would be crushed with me," he first protested before picking up the script. "Shall I give it a go?"
"Money certainly hasn't changed her," Attenborough said of Adele's on-screen persona. "She, like all pop stars, needs to hunt to survive."
Inevitably, the script pokes fun at the video's use of a flip phone. "But there's a problem. The signal is poor, and she hasn't upgraded her handset since 1999. Hashtag flip phone. She goes inside to seek shelter from the elements and find a landline."
