Jeremy Meeks, the California felon whose hot mugshot caused the Internet to go into heat last week, is married, and his wife does not appreciate all the attention her husband is getting.
Internet fans and groupies surprisingly didn't show up to Meek's arraignment Friday afternoon, but when family and friends arrived they were very upset. “It’s ridiculous,” a friend tells CBS. “People are making jokes when this is not funny at all.”
Meeks' wife did not attend the arraignment. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t see her at all in the cameras.” said another friend. “She’s furious. Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things.” The father of two's public defender said he was shocked at the worldwide media attention for his client, but said, “It’s better than the attention my clients usually get.
According to TMZ there are few agencies interested in Meeks edgy and sexy style -- apparently "gangster models" are hot right now. Once a free man they see him working with high-end fashion houses like Versace and Armani, with the possibility of Meeks raking in $15,000-to-$30,000.
Meeks was arrested with four other men last Wednesday (June 18th) during a gang sweep. He's being held on $900,000 bail with no prospect of getting out soon.
