The 34-year-old spoke to Greg and Ali about his epic ride and motivation to raise $50,000 for Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets program.

Fishing fever has hit the Top End with Tourism NT's popular Million Dollar Fish competition returning this Saturday 1 October.

This season the number of prized tagged barramundi has increased to 101 and the total cash prize pool up for grabs is $2 million.

More than 22,000 people have already registered for the competition with anglers locally, interstate and overseas all trying to hook the big one from this weekend.

First Territory mangoes to United States

The first ever shipment of Territory mangoes to the United States will be exported this week.

The shipment has been provided from Manbulloo Limited Katherine Farm and shows great confidence in the Territory industry and product.

The Kensington Pride mangoes will be sent to the PMA Fresh Summitt for tastings in Florida, where buyers from all over North America and many other markets go to see what's new in fruit and vegetables. 

The Territory already exports to Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, China, South Korea, Japan and Europe.

Kellie becomes first female angler to land $10K barra

Territorian Kellie Carroll has created history becoming the first female angler to catch a $10,000 tagged barramundi in the Million Dollar Fish competition.

Kellie caught the prize-tagged fish on Monday in Darwin Harbour after a last minute decision to go fishing.

Just a few hours later, Darwin resident George Voukolos hooked the second tagged barra of season two of the competition whilst fishing at Daly River, a popular fishing spot two and a half hours from Darwin.

Kellie spoke to Greg and Ali about her catch and how she plans to spend her windfall. Listen to their chat here.

Andrea Mason named 2016 Telstra NT Business Woman of the Year

Andrea Mason, of the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women's Council, has been named the 2016 Telstra Northern Territory Business Woman of the Year.

She has devoted much of her career to focusing on opening just and fair access to Aboriginal people through employment, workforce planning, tenancy management and negotiating reconciliation plans.

Andrea, who also won the For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award, spoke to Greg and Ali about the accolade. Take a listen to their chat below.

Comedy hypnotist visits Wake Up

Following the success of his February and April seminars, renowned Australian comedy and clinical hypnotherapist Rohan Bizarre Gazzard returns to Darwin.

The endearing hypnotist amazed Greg and Ali on Wake Up when he hypnotised fellow staff members Steve and Grace who were powerless to his charms. Both Steve and Grace volunteered themselves to the experience and the results were hilarious.

Peter Brock two part drama screens this weekend

TEN has confirmed its two part drama Brock will screen at 8:30pm Sunday October 9 and conclude on Monday, 10 October at 9.00pm.  

As expected it will premiere on the same weekend TEN broadcasts the Bathurst 1000, which marks the 10th anniversary of the death of the sporting champion. Over two big nights, Brock will follow the life of the legendary Australian icon. From his early racing days to his tragic death in Perth, this special television dramatisation traces the soaring highs and brutal lows of one of the country’s most remarkable sportsmen.

Starring Matt Le Nevez as Peter Brock, Brock comprises an all-star cast that includes Brendan Cowell as Peter’s adversary Allan Moffat, Ella Scott Lynch as Bev Brock, Natalie Bassingthwaighte as Julie Bamford, Steve Bisley as Harry Firth, Axle Whitehead as Colin Bond and Martin Sacks as Peter’s father Geoff Brock.

 

Inaugural AFL women's draft

The inaugural AFL women's draft takes place this Wednesday in Melbourne.

The draft will be the next step in completing team lists that will complete the inaugural national women's league in early 2017.

Marquee players and some priority players have been announced in recent weeks.

Teams are required to have 25 players on their list and can also nominate up to two additional rookies that are new to the game or haven't been registered as a player prior to June 15, 2016.

Fingers crossed for our Northern Territory hopefuls.
